Constellations
Constellations- Constellations are stars that people have arranged into shapes to make recognizable patterns.We sought to give these shapes recognizablemeaning by connecting brighter stars in a dot-to-dot fashion and giving them characteristics of people and things of myth and legend. An example of a constellation is Orion the Hunter which is most recognizable by his belt which is made of 3 very bright stars in a row. Orion the Hunter is one of the most well known constellations and was named by the Greeks, like many other constellations.
Seasonal Constellations- Seasonal constellations are constellations that appear in certain seasons of the year.These constellations are seasonal due to Earth's orbit around the sun which puts Earth in a different place every season giving different view points of the universe and different stars of different constellations. Examples of seasonal constellations are Andromeda, Cetus, and Aquarius which can only be seen in Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. Also, there is Canis Major, Canis Minor, and Taurus which are seen in the winter.
Circumpolar Constellations- Circumpolar constellations are constellations that never rise or set and are seen throughout the entire year in their own hemisphere. The hemisphere that specific circumpolar constellations are seen are in the northern and southern hemisphere. Exampls of circumpolar constellations in the northern hemisphere are Auriga, Draco, Lynx, Perseus, and Ursa Major. Examples of southern hemisphere circumpolar constellations are Reticulum, Octans, Apus, Lupus, and Centaurus.
